About Davis

The community, culture, and curriculum at Davis school focuses on helping young children to become active, reflective and thoughtful citizens in their community. Students, staff, and families use each other as resources in order to support all students in developing the critical skills needed to do this and to feel successful as learners and citizens. In particular, Davis School students are encouraged and taught to share ideas, reflect, analyze, and follow problem-solving processes. All of these abilities are achieved throughout daily meetings, conversations, and activities that focus on developing problem solving-skills for both social challenges as well as literacy, math, science and engineering. Our main goals in developing these habits and skills is that children will develop a healthy sense of self, understand and appreciate diversity, identify and reflect on the differences in concepts of fairness and unfairness and lastly to be able problem-solve and take action when there is a problem or injustice.
