Welcome to Bedford Public Schools Nutrition!

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.

The Food & Nutrition Department is made up of a team of professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet all state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of nutritious, delicious, and affordable foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

Dear Families:

Children need healthy meals to learn. Bedford Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. For this school year and all the years following, students can receive one free breakfast (where available) and one free lunch at no cost each school day.

We ask you to please fill out the application for free and reduced price school meals as it is a requirement of the USDA and will help assure the continuation of the free meal benefit. Should your child's application be found eligible for benefits, your household may also qualify for other local benefits such as SNAP. Bedford School Nutrition follows strict federal rules to ensure your information remains confidential. This information also helps with other federally funded programs within the district.

If you are not receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and have been approved for free or reduced-price school meals, you may be eligible for SNAP which provides monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries to Massachusetts residents who qualify. Find out if you are eligible for SNAP today by calling Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333 and a counselor can help you apply over the phone. You can also apply on your own online at DTA Connect:

Free and reduced meal applications are available this year, please take the time to complete the  Click "meal applications" on the left side for more information
