Grief Awareness Day

On Thursday, November 17th, our Guidance Department partnered with the Children's Room from Arlington, MA to participate in art activities honoring Children and Teens Grief Awareness Day. The Guidance Department encouraged students who have experienced the loss of family, friends or pets to take a moment to remember these loved ones in a special way. Our students wrote special messages to family members and wrote notes of support to each other as students as they collectively thought about any grief in their lives. Together, the individual heart messages written by students created a larger heart to represent our JGMS community. We hope that this will remind our kids that we are all connected to each other through good times and difficult times.

Our Counselors used this day as a way to remind students that our Guidance Department is available to process grief in any form. We want students to know that they do not have to process these feelings on their own.

As we end the month of November, please ask your student if they participated in the art projects at school. This might be a great way to continue helping your child process any feelings connected to a loss.
