Wednesday remote lunch offer for September 16th
Dear Bedford Families,
With school, opening on Wednesday September 16th the Food Service is offering to all families a one time option, a food bag containing 5 lunches. Due to early release Thursday and Friday and the need to offer food to fully remote learners, we will accommodate any Bedford family with school age children. Please order your food bag at this address, ken_whittier@bedfordps.org. Please provide a name, the number of school aged children a bag is ordered for and the name of the school for pick up. Send your request in by 2PM September 15th. Households with multiple school aged children can pick up all meal bags at the school of your choice (please state which school for pick up in your email).
I will forward your request to the food service staff in the appropriate school. They will prepare the bag and you may pick the bag up at the loading dock of the school you choose on Wednesday Sept 16th between 1-2 PM. Please pull into the loading area of the school, give the staff your name and they will put the number of food bags requested into the trunk of the vehicle.
We will supply one bag per student. The meal bag will contain five meals at no charge.
Food Service Update:
We are working on a new process for a Bedford School Lunch Program this school year which will compliment the district goals of providng a safe environment to all. Our mission is to provide meals to students inside and outside of school. We are partnering with EMS LINQ, INC to install a new food service web page which will incorporate an online ordering feature. This is a new program for us in the food service department and we are training on the program as I write this. Online ordering will enable students and/or family members to order a lunch which we will then deliver to the defined classroom. Instructions on how to set up an online ordering account for your student will be made avilable next week. I apologize for the lateness of this infomation. As I mentioned, providing food to students outside of school will be included in our service program. The offer above will be a similiar approach to one we will offer on a regular basis to fully remote learners. We intend to offer weekly food bags to student families to pick up once per week, similiar to the food pantry program in effect during the summer. Again, more information will be coming. This process is new to us as well as all of you, in the coming days we will have more information to pass along to clarify the process.
